Scores and Highlights from 6/16

Durham Bulls 2, Gwinnett Braves 10
Leslie Anderson was 2 for 4 with a home run. Robinson Chirinos drove home the other Bulls run. Desmond Jennings, Brandon Guyer and Russ Canzler had the other hits.


Montgomery Biscuits 8, Mobile Bay Bears 0
Matt Moore throws first Biscuit's no-hitter, striking out 11 in the process. Shawn O'Malley was 3 for 4 with an RBI and 2 run scored. Stephen Vogt was 3 for 5 with a double, 3 RBI's and a run scored. Daniel Mayora had a 3-run homer. Tim Beckham was 1 for 3 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored.


Bradenton Marauders 1, Charlotte Stone Crabs 10
Stone Crabs sweep Bradenton. Every Stone Crab hitter had a hit and scored a run. Tyler Bortnick had a grand slam. Jake Jefferies was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's. Hak-Ju Lee was for for 4 with an RBI. Greg Sexton was 2 for 4. Brett Nommensen had a double. Alex Koronis earned win. Mike Jarman and Scott Shuman each pitched 2 no-hit innings.


West Michigan White Caps 2, Bowling Green Hot Rods 5
Hot Rods sweep West Michigan, extend winning streak to 8 games and reduce magic number to 2. Robby Price was 3 for 4 with a double, RBI and a run scored. Julio Cedeno was 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. Nick Schwaner had a triple and 3 RBI's. George Jensen picked up the win and Austin Hubbard the save.


DSL Astros, DSL Rays (Postponed: Rain)




VSL Rays 4, VSL Tigers 3 (Game One, 15 innings)
Erick Vasquez was 3 for 5 with a double, home run and 2 walks. Westor Ramos was 2 for 4. Jose Bellorin was 2 for 6. Franklin Paz and Wilmer Dominguez each had doubles. Joynerd Gonzalez pitched 5 shut-out innings for the win.


VSL Rays 6, VSL Tigers 5 (Game Two)
Oscar Hernandez was 2 for 3 with a double. Franklin Paz was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Erick Vasquez was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Wilmer Dominguez also had a double. Danmar Salazar pitched 3 no-hit innings for the win.

  1. One other note regarding the Stone Crabs game ... Mike Sheridan extended his hitting streak to 11 games. He's batting .290 and slugging .441 in his last 27 games played (hitting safely in 22 of them). Nice to see after getting off to such a slow start.

  2. Do you think Kang is gaining some traction as a prospect? I don't see the home run power you like in a corner outfielder, but he is getting on base at a good rate. Last year as a downer, but before that he seemed to be a pretty good hitter.
