Rays 10th Round Pick - 330th Overall: Jacob Faria

The first high school pitcher taken by the Rays since Taylor Guerrieri at #24. Apparently a two-way guy but was taken as a pitcher.

Jacob Faria is a 2011 RHP/OF with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Artesia, CA who attends Gahr. Taller body, thin lean build, projectable body, 3/4 arm slot, long arm action, arm speed, loose arm, occasional armside run on FB, some down plane, online delivery, some late effort, sink FB, 11/5 CB, sink CH, can stay back longer, projects.

  1. The perfect game scouting report for Faria is a few years old. He is a couple of inches taller. Has touched 93, sits at 89-91. Nasty two seamer, with alot of sinking action. Gets alot of ground ball outs. He was 18-3 in 21 starts in his three year varsity career, with a 1.75 ERA.

Alot of upside to this kid. He's going to do very well.
