Bortnick and Guyer Named Players of the Week

The weekly awards were handed out today by MiLB and Charlotte IF Tyler Bortnick was named the Hitter of the Week in the Florida State League and OF Brandon Guyer was named the Hitter of the Week for the International League.

Bortnick hit .500 with a 1.200 slugging this week. He had 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 9 RBI's, 4 runs scored, 4 walks and 5 stolen bases in just 3 games played last week. Bortnick is now hitting .304 with 15 doubles, 4 triple, 3 home runs and 40 RBI's this season.

Guyer hit .409 on the week with 2 doubles, a triple, a home run, 7 RBI's and 6 runs scored this week. He had three hits on Monday and then fell a triple shy of the cycle on Friday. Guyer is hitting .323 with 17 doubles, 1 triple, 10 home runs and 39 RBI's this year for the Bulls.

The Southern League has yet to post their players of the week but when they do, I imagine that Matt Moore will be the Pitcher of the Week following his complete game no-hitter last week.
