  3. I don't know where would be best to ask this, but what are the chances of Merrill Kelly getting promoted to AA mid-season?

  4. I was wondering the same thing. Also wondering about Josh Satow and Kyle Lobstein. I guess Hak Ju Lee is stuck down there cause there's no place for him to move up.

  5. Last comment got it right. Moving someone up requires a corresponding move (up, down or out). There are several players at Charlotte (Lee, Sexton, Lobstein) that have earned a look at AA this year, but you can't just send them there. Who goes (and where to) to fit them in?

  6. I'd imagine there's an open rotation spot due to Cruz's injury (Jim Paduch is currently filling it). Personally I'd be more aggressive with the entire system, from having Matt Moore in triple-A to Josh Sale in HV instead of Princeton.

  8. Actually, I should have started even higher and have Jennings and Guyer in the majors.

  9. any chance that Oscar Hernandez gets moved to the States? I don't think it has happened yet with one of our summer league teams but it would be interesting to see him in Princeton or even get him some work in XST.

  10. Kevin - I couldn't agree more regarding the lack of movement at all levels. Judging by the plethora of moves (not just "on paper" reassignments) made by most other organizations on an almost daily basis, I wonder why the Rays seem so reluctant to shake things up once the season begins. Guys that are clearly thriving at their current level need to be challenged. Guys that are struggling need to be re-located and their prospects re-evaluated. Just my two cents.

  11. I think the depth of the system is one of the reason we can afford to let our guys stay at their current levels. Using Matt Moore as an example why move him to AAA when we already are going to have to probably send Cobb back to AAA when Niemann is ready. Let Moore dominate AA and continue to work on subtle improvements on his pitches and command. Next season he can hopefully dominate AAA and continue to work to improve. I would imagine that if we didn't have the depth than we would be moving pitchers up quicker. As far as hitters it is all about making sure that we have the top hitters in the majors during their best seasons. Why rush Jennings up to the majors until he is completely ready when we most likely only have him for his original contract. I would rather have an extra season of Jennings at age 27 or 28 4/5 years into the league than an extra season of Jennings at 22 and a rookie. I imagine that production will be a lot better at the later age.
