RaysProspects Podcast: Episode 5 - The Draft Wrap-Up

This week Scott and I start out by giving some overall thoughts on the Rays' draft strategy. From there we delve into talking about each of the picks in the first, supplemental, and second round before touching on some interesting names after that. We finish up by talking about the draft as a whole including Danny Hultzen going #2 and some other surprises. Enjoy!

  1. Anyone know any thing about Oscar Hernandez? He is a 17 yr old catcher for our Venezuelan Summer team. I know it's just the Venezuelan League. But he is hitting .421 and has 11 HR in just over 70 ABs!!!

  2. Nope. Even though he played for the VSL Rays last season he is not listed in the media guide. Which is odd, since many players who have yet to play in a professional game are listed. He hit #11 today, he's been cooling off a little lately but is still hitting .421/.506/.908 over 76 ABs. That .906 isn't his OPS, it's his SLG, his OPS is 1.414.

Also, Yoel Araujo still hasn't played for the DSL Rays since he was added to the roster 10 days ago.
