In another roster move, the Tampa Bay Rays have optioned Mike Ekstrom to the Durham Bulls.
Thompson has spent his first professional season with the Renegades. He is 2-1 with a 1.35 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 10 apperances, 7 of them being starts. He was the Rays second round pick in the 2010 draft from Long Beach State.

Actually, it's Sean McMann. Thanks.ReplyDelete

08/24/2010 Assigned Hudson Valley Renegades Geno Glynn Geno Glynn assigned to Hudson Valley Renegades from Princeton Rays.ReplyDelete
Any idea when Jake will start in the Charlotte rotation?ReplyDelete
With the rainouts who knows. Moore and Cruz should start the next 2 games, they were scheduled for the rainouts. Barnese is on the DL now also, not sure why.ReplyDelete
And congrats to Thompson. Last starter I can remember skipping low A was David Price, but that was a little different. It was the year after he was drafted (signed at the deadline) and he began the season at Vero Beach instead of skipping up from HV.ReplyDelete
Can anyone remember a pitcher who made it to high A in the year they were drafted?
Congratulations to Thompson. However, I think that this move is to cover for Barnese this year and that Thompson will begin next year at Bowling Green.ReplyDelete
