Friday's Scores and Highlights

Durham Bulls 3, Gwinnett Braves 4
JJ Furmaniak was 2 for 4 with 2 double. Angel Chavez was 2 for 4 with a double. Desmond Jennings was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Emeel Salem had a double in his AAA debut. Anuery Rodriguez pitched 5 scoreless innings of relief. Leslie Anderson was 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts. Heath Phillips suffered the loss. The Bulls play a doubleheader against Gwinnett on Saturday.

Montgomery Biscuits 3, Mississippi Braves 5
Biscuits have now lost three in a row. Jose Ruiz had 2 of the 3 Biscuits hits on the night. Craig Albernaz had the other hit, also drove home two runs. Justin Dowdy pitched 2 scoreless innings. Justin Garcia suffered the loss. The Biscuits battle Mississippi again on Saturday with Alex Torres making the start.

Fort Myers Miracle 2, Charlotte Stone Crabs 5
Eighth inning rally leads Stone Crabs to victory. Michael Sheridan was 2 for 4 with a double, 3 RBIs and a run scored. Jake Jefferies was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Tim Beckham also had an RBI. Matt Moore gave up just 1 unearned run in 6 2/3 innings, striking out 12 in the process. Neil Schenk earned the win and Zach Quate picked up his 21st save. The Stone Crabs wrap up the series with Fort Myers on Saturday, Joe Cruz will make the start.

West Michigan White Caps 4, Bowling Green Hot Rods 2
Ty Morrison, Brett Nommensen and Ryan Wiegand had a double each. Brett Nommensen and Bennett Davis drove home the runs. The Hot Rods were 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position. Albert Suarez took the loss. The Hot Rods begin a series against Great Lakes on Saturday, Wilking Rodriguez will start the opener.

Hudson Valley Renegades 3, Batavia Muckdogs 9
Elias Otero was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Alejandro Torres was 2 for 4. Burt Reynolds had a home run and 2 RBI's. The Renegades offense struck out 15 times and was 1 for 7 with runners in scoring position. Jake Thompson took the loss. The series against Batavia continues on Saturday.

Princeton Rays 7, Pulaski Mariners 6 (10 innings)
Ruben Contreras was 3 for 5 with a double and a home run. Cesar Guillen was 2 for 4 with a home run and 4 RBI's. Todd Glaesmann was 2 for 5 with a double. Shane Minks picked up the win. Victor Mateo takes the mound in Saturday's game against Pulaski.

GCL Rays 4, GCL Orioles 0
The Rays took over sole possession of first place in the division. Luke Bailey was 2 for 2 with a double, home run and 2 walks. Edward Dorville also drove home a run. Jason Cromer, Matt Swilley and Ryan Fleckenstein combined to throw 5 no hit innings, 2 by Cromer and Swilley the other by Fleckenstein. Pedro Silvestre picked up the win and improved to 5-0 on the season. The GCL Rays host the GCL Orioles on Saturday.

DSL Astros 4, DSL Rays 5
Julio Medina was 2 for 4 with a double, home run, 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored. Adderly Rosa was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Ariel Soriano was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Roque Colon picked up the win. The DSL Rays travel to play the DSL Indians on Saturday.

  1. The only question remaining for the Hot Rods is if they can drop below Dayton to finish dead last. It's going to be tough but if anybody can do it the Hot Rods can.
