Saturday's Scores and Highlights

Durham Bulls 5, Pawtucket Red Sox 1
Bulls winning steak continues, now stands at ten games. Elliot Johnson was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI's. Desmond Jennings was 2 for 3 with a run scored, 2 walks and a stolen base. Chris Richard was 2 for 5 with a double. Dan Johnson went deep for home run number thirty of the year. Virgil Vasquez earned the win. The Bulls try to tie the franchise high winning streak on Sunday against Pawtucket, Heath Phillips will be the starting pitcher for the Bulls.

Montgomery Biscuits 5, Mobile Bay Bears 4 (15 innings)
Henry Wrigley was 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI's, including the game winner. John Matulia was 2 for 5 with a run scored. Emeel Salem was 3 for 7 with a double and 2 runs scored. Both Drew and Leslie Anderson each added an RBI. The Biscuits went through six pitchers on the night with Sergio Espinosa getting the win. The Biscuits wrap up the series with Mobile on Sunday.

Dunedin Blue Jays 1, Charlotte Stone Crabs 4
Isaias Velasquez was 2 for 4 with a double, RBI and a run scored. Jake Jefferies was 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. Kyeong Kang was 2 for 4 with a double. Reid Fronk was 2 for 5 with 2 double and an RBI. Anthony Scelfo and Matt Hall also drove home a run each. Chris Andujar pitched 7 1/3 innings only giving up 1 run on 5 hits enroute to the victory. Zach Quate recorded his 18th save with a no-hit ninth frame. The Stone Crabs square off against Dunedin again on Sunday, Frank De Los Santos will start for the Stone Crabs.

Lansing Lugnuts 11, Bowling Green Hot Rods 5
Julio Cedeno was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Dustin Biell was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Tyler Bortnick was 2 for 4 with a stolen base. Cody Rogers drove home 2 runs. Kyle Spraker also had an RBI and a stolen base. Kirby Yates suffered the loss. The Hot Rods host Lansing again on Sunday.

Aberdeen Iron Birds 1, Hudson Valley Renegades 2
Steven Tinoco was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Derek Dietrich had a triple while Philip Wunderlich and Elias Otero each picked up a double. James Patterson threw 4 no hit innings with 3 strikeouts to get the win. The Renegades wrap up the two game series against Aberdeen on Sunday.

Danville Braves 0, Princeton Rays 4
Todd Glaesmann was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Bryan Fogle had a two run homer. Scott Lawson drove home the other run. Braulio Lara earned the win and George Jensen the save. The P-Rays begin a series against Pulaski on Sunday with Eliazer Suero getting the start.

GCL Orioles 4, GCL Rays 10
Justin O'Conner was 3 for 5 with a double, home run, 4 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Alex Diaz was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's and a run scored. Ryan Brett drove home two runs. Brandon Henderson improved to 2-0 with the win. The GCL Rays are off on Sunday.

DSL Pirates 8, DSL Rays 1
Jiminson Natera was 2 for 4 and drove in the lone Rays run. The offense only managed to put a runner in scoring position on 3 occasions. Jose Torres suffered the loss. The DSL Rays will play host to the DSL Yankees on Sunday.

VSL Rays 2, VSL Pirates 3
Nahum Hernandez was 3 for 4. Roan Salas was 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. Jhefferson Hurtado took the loss. The VSL Rays will take on the VSL Phillies on Sunday.

  1. Wasn't Cruz supposed to start for Charlotte on Sat? Wonder why Andujar did, but at least he pitched well.

  3. Doug: Don't know why Cruz did not start. De Los Santos is scheduled to start today. We'll see if they shuffle some more, I am heading to the park now.

    Anon: Sunday is a division wide day off.
