Wednesday's Scores and Highlights

Durham Bulls (day off)
The Bulls return to action on Thursday to kick off a series against Indianapolis with Richard De Los Santos getting the start.



Tennessee Smokies 3, Montgomery Biscuits 1
Chris De La Cruz was 3 for 3 with a run scored. Emeel Salem was 2 for 4. Nevin Ashley was 2 for 4 and drove home the lone run. Alex Torres suffered the loss. The Biscuits send Alex Cobb to the mound in game four of the five game series against Tennessee on Thursday.

Lakeland Flying Tigers 2, Charlotte Stone Crabs 5
Stephen Vogt was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Rocco Baldelli was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 runs scored. Greg Sexton also had an RBI. Shane Dyer struck out a season high 10 hitters enroute to the win. The Stone Crabs play Lakeland in the second game of the series on Thursday, Nick Barnese will make the start.

South Bend Silver Hawks 8, Bowling Green Hot Rods 7
Everyone in the Hot Rods lineup collected at least one hit in the game. Ty Morrison was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI's. Cody Rogers was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Brett Nommensen was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Julio Cedeno drove home 2 runs. Scott Shuman was charged with the loss. The Hot Rods continue the series against South Bend on Thursday, Kirby Yates will start.

Hudson Valley Renegades 1, Connecticut Tigers 2 (Game One)
Robby Price and Mayobanex Acosta had a double each. Kyle Lusson made his Renegades debut, going 1 for 3 with the only RBI of the game. Omar Bencomo pitched 1 2/3 no-hit innings with 3 strikeouts. The Renegades were 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position. Miguel Sierra took the loss.

Hudson Valley Renegades 1, Connecticut Tigers 2 (Game Two)
Robby Price was 2 for 3. Nick Schwaner was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Elias Otero drove home the only Renegades run. Steven Tinoco was 0 for 3 with 3 strikeouts. Kenneth Kelly was charged with the loss. James Patterson starts from the Renegades for Thursday's game against Connecticut.

Princeton Rays (day off)
The P-Rays begin a series at home against Greeneville, Braulio Lara will get the start in the opener.



GCL Rays 1, GCL Red Sox 3
Ryan Brett was 2 for 4 with a double, only Rays hitter with multiple hits. Jhonathan Gomez had the only other extra base hit with a triple. Ryan Royster made his first rehab appearance, playing right field and going 0 for 2 at the plate. Justin O'Conner was 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts. Marcus Jensen took the loss. The GCL Rays rematch the GCL Red Sox in Port Charlotte on Thursday.

DSL Indians 0, DSL Rays 7 (6 innings)
Julio Medina was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI's. Jiminson Natera was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's. Ariel Soriano and Hector Rodriguez each drove home a run. Darwin Maldonado made his 2010 debut and was the only player not to reach base by going 0 for 3 with 3 strikeouts. Joan Guerrero threw a complete game shut-out, striking out 9. The DSL Rays are home on Thursday against the DSL Mets.


VSL Rays, VSL Tigers (postponed)
The VSL Rays will complete a suspended game against the VSL Reds followed by the regularly scheduled game.

  1. I've never seen Hudson Valley so messed up with pitching as it is this year. This daily piggy back rotation is crazy. It's not only unfair to the pitchers, but also to the coaches who have to try to give them all some playing time. There are so many pitchers there.(17) Some relievers are only getting 1 inning/week. (and they're not even closers.) I thought it would have been corrected by now, but it's not. Move these guys around, please, so they can get some playing time somewhere.
