Gulf Coast League Playoff Preview: Championship Series

The GCL Rays defeated the GCL Marlins 1-0 in the tenth inning of Monday’s semi-final game to advance to the GCL Championship Series on Tuesday. Craige Lyerly scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the top of the tenth inning to give the Rays the victory.

They will play the GCL Phillies in the Championship Series. Here is how the teams matchup:



The series will be a rematch of the 2008 World Series, GCL style. The Phillies have home field advantage and will host games one and three. Game Two will be played in Port Charlotte.

  2. Henderson was great. Third professional start and shut-out one of the best offensive clubs in the GCL. I will cover the game in more detail with the recap of the games.
