Minor Moves: Dowdy, Folli

The Rays have purchased the contract of Justin Dowdy from indy ball:
Wichita Wingnuts all-star closer Justin Dowdy has been purchased by the Tampa Bay Rays organization. Dowdy ranks third in the American Association with 17 saves and has struck out 40 hitters in 25.0 IP. The San Diego, CA native is in his 10th season of professional baseball. The 26-year old lefty has struck out the side five different times this season and is eight strikeouts shy of 600 for his career. Dowdy is expected to report to Double-A Montgomery. Tampa Bay becomes Dowdy's fifth stop in affiliated ball. The veteran lefty has also spent time with the White Sox, Mariners, Angels, and Athletics.
The Rays also traded future considerations for Memphis Redbirds (St. Louis Cardinals - AAA) infielder Mike Folli. The 25 year-old was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 42nd round of the 2007 draft out of the University of Buffalo. Folli batted .212/.287/.338 in 151 ABs between AA and AAA this season. For his career he is .232/.298/.349 in 872 ABs with only 16 stolen bases. He is versatile in the field, mostly playing 2B and 3B, but also some SS and OF and he's even pitched in 3 games.

Kyle Lusson has been assigned to the Hudson Valley Renegades from the GCL Rays.

Fifth round pick Ian Kendall was officially assigned to the GCL Rays today.
