Rays Extend Player Development Contract with Stone Crabs

The Tampa Bay Rays have extended the player development contract with the Charlotte Stone Crabs. The deal released on Thursday will keep the Ripken Baseball operated Stone Crabs affiliated with the Rays through the end of the 2012 season. The Stone Crabs began their inagural season in the Florida State League last season and has made the FSL playoffs in each of the seasons.

  1. PDCs can be extended for 2 or 4 years iirc, wonder why they only did 2 years? I mean it's not like they will be leaving PC anytime soon with the ST facility there.

Another if I remember correctly, all of the other affiliates contracts are up after this season except for Durham (and now Charlotte). Don't expect any changes, so we should be hearing soon about extensions with Montgomery, Bowling Green, Hudson Valley and Princeton (GCL, VSL and DSL are owned by the Rays so they don't have PDCs).
