Wednesday's Scores and Highlights

Columbus Clippers 8, Durham Bulls 6 (12 innings)
Dan Johnson was 2 for 3 with a home run and 3 walks. Angel Chavez was 2 for 5 with a homer and 3 RBI's. Desmond Jennings was 2 for 6. Chris Richard was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 walks. Justin Ruggiano and Dioner Navarro each picked up an RBI. Joe Bateman threw 1 1/3 no-hit innings in relief. Bulls were 1 for 13 with runners in scoring position. Winston Abreu suffered the loss. The Bulls send Heath Phillips to the mound Thursday as they conclude the series with Columbus.

Montgomery Biscuits (day off)
The Biscuits return to action Thursday with a home series against Carolina.



Daytona Cubs 5, Charlotte Stone Crabs 2
Stone Crabs were swept by Cubs and now lost 7 straight. Stephen Vogt was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Greg Sexton picked up the other Stone Crabs RBI. Brian Shouse was added to the roster to continue rehab and pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief. The offense struck out 10 times and was only able to put a runner in scoring position 4 times. Richard De Los Santos suffered the loss, giving up 5 runs on 10 hits. The Stone Crabs hit the road for a four game series against Clearwater with Matt Moore starting the opener.

Quad Cities River Bandits 10, Bowling Green Hot Rods 0
Mark Thomas was 2 for 3. Robbi Estrada was 2 for 4. Bennett Davis was 0 for 4 with 4 strikeouts. The offense struck out 14 times and stranded 10 baserunners on the night. Kirby Yates suffered the loss, allowing 8 runs on 9 hits with 3 home runs. The Hot Rods continue the series with Quad Cities, Alex Colome will start in Thursday's game.

Staten Island Yankees, Hudson Valley Renegades (postponed)
The series heads back to Staten Island for Thursday's game.



Princeton Rays 5, Burlington Royals 6 (13 innings)
Cesar Guillen was only P-Ray with multiple hits by going 2 for 5 with a double, an RBI and 2 runs scored. Scott Lawson had a home run and 2 RBI's. Todd Glaesmann also plated a run. Brad Furdal was charged with the loss. The P-Rays put Jacob Partridge on the mound for Thursday's series finale against Burlington.

GCL Rays 7, GCL Twins 4
Ryan Brett was 3 for 3 with a triple, 2 RBI's and a run scored. Craige Lyerly was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Juniel Querecuto was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Edward Dorville knocked in a run. Matt Spann picked up the win and Ryan Fleckenstein the save. The two clubs match up again on Thursday with the GCL Rays having home field advantage.

DSL Dodgers, DSL Rays (postponed)
The DSL Rays and DSL Pirates are scheduled to do battle should the weather allow.



VSL Rays 9, VSL Tigers 4
Nahum Hernandez was 3 for 5 with a home run, RBI and 2 runs scored. Jose Paez was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Roan Salas was 2 for 4 with a double, RBI and run scored. Omar Narvaez was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Franklin Paz knocked home two runs. Joynerd Gonzalez earned the win and Carlos Orasma recorded the save. The VSL Rays play a doubleheader at home against the VSL Reds on Thursday.

  1. I'll be at the Crabs game tonight in Clearwater to watch Matt Moore for the first time. I may try to take some video footage. I can't wait to see this kid.
