Friday's Scores and Highlights

Charlotte Knights 6, Durham Bulls 4
Joe Dillon was 2 for 3 with a home run, 2 RBI's and a run scored. Chris Richard also drove home a run. Desmond Jennings was 0 for 4 with a strikeout. Virgil Vasquez suffered the loss, allowing 5 earned runs in 5 innings. The series moved to Charlotte for the final two games with Heath Phillips making the start.

Montgomery Biscuits 4, Carolina Mudcats 3 (10 innings)
Chris De La Cruz was 4 for 4. Cody Cipriano was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 runs scored as well as being walked twice. Rashad Eldridge was 2 for 5, knocking in the game winning run in the tenth inning. Henry Wrigley was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Jake McGee pitched 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and striking out 8. Sergio Espinosa recorded the win and Paul Phillips the save. The Biscuits travel to Tennessee to begin a series against the Smokies, Jeremy Hall will make the start.

Charlotte Stone Crabs 7, Brevard County Manatees 15
Tim Beckham was 2 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Michael Sheridan was 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. Chris Murrill was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Anthony Scelfo and Kyeong Kang also scored. Stone Crabs pitching gave up 19 hits including 3 three run homer. Frank De Los Santos was charged with the loss. The Stone Crabs send Matt Moore to the mound in the series finale against Brevard County.

Bowling Green Hot Rods 3, Burlington Bees 6
Ryan Wiegand was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI's. Tyler Bortnick was 2 for 2 with a run scored and drew 3 walks. Ty Morrison hit his fourth home run of the season. Alex Colome was the losing pitcher. The Hot Rods begin a series against Peoria on Saturday with Kyle Lobstein getting the start.

Williamsport Crosscutters 3, Hudson Valley Renegades 2 (10 innings)
Elias Otero was 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. Robby Price drove home two runs. Kyle Ayers suffered the loss. The Renegades begin a home series against Connecticut on Saturday.

Bristol Sox 0, Princeton Rays 5
Ruben Contreras was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Brian Fogle drove home two runs. Todd Glaesmann scored two runs. Marcus Jensen pitched 2 no-hit innings. Eliazer Suero pitched 7 shut-out innings with 3 hits and 9 strikeouts to earn the win. The P-Rays begin a home series against Burlington on Saturday.

GCL Twins 0, GCL Rays 4
Juniel Querecuto was 2 for 4. Justin O'Conner was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Cesar Perez, Julian Morillo and Alexander Diaz picked up RBI's. GCL pitcher combined for a complete game shut-out only allowing 2 hits. Brian Shouse continued his rehab assignment, pitching a perfect first inning. Reinaldo Lopez threw 4 innings with 1 hit, earning the win. The GCL Rays take on the GCL Rays Orioles at home on Saturday.

DSL Mets 4, DSL Rays 2 (Game One/8 innings)
Ariel Soriano was 2 for 4. Jesus Araiza had the only extra base hit with a double. Adderly Rosa and Federico Eder scored the Rays runs. Jose Monegro suffered the loss.


DSL Mets 1, DSL Rays 4 (Game Two/7 innings)
Ariel Soriano was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's. Luis Marte picked up the only extra base hit. Hector Rodriguez plated a run. Aneuris Mercedes earned the win and Juan Wilsino the save. The DSL Rays are off on Saturday.

VSL Rays (Day Off)
The VSL Rays return to action Saturday at the GCL VSL Pirates.

  2. Ha, fixed the GCL and VSL Saturday opponents. As of now the VSL Rays game was postponed due to weather, and the GCL Rays are down 2-1 end of 7. The GCL Rays have only 2 hits (triple by Lyerly and double by Lusson) and have struck out 13 times in 7 innings. Lucky to be in the game at this point. Nice start by Jensen, 5.0 IP, 4 hits, one unearned run, one walk and one strikeout. Season ERA at 0.39. Perez has struck out in all 3 AB's and has a throwing error. Season BA at .136, maybe we rushed him.
