Friday's Scores and Highlights

Norfolk Tides 2, Durham Bulls 7
Elliot Johnson went 3 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored. Desmond Jennings was 2 for 4 with a double, RBI and 2 runs scored. Dan Johnson was 2 for 5 with a double, home run and 2 RBI's. Joe Dillon was the only Bull without a hit. Virgil Vasquez threw six shut-out innings for the win, improving to 4-0 on the year. The Bulls head to Norfolk for the final 2 games with Brian Baker getting the start on Saturday.

Mobile Bay Bears, Montgomery Biscuits (postponed)
The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday. David Newmann will start game one followed by Jeremy Hall in game two.


Charlotte Stone Crabs 6, Bradenton Marauders 4
Stephen Vogt was 2 for 3 with a double, RBI and a run scored. Reid Fronk was 2 for 5 with 2 doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Matt Spring hit his fourth home run of the season. Chris Murrill struck out 3 times in 5 at bats. Michael Sheridan was 0 for 4. Joe Cruz picked up the win by pitching 7 scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts. This pushes Cruz streak up scoreless innings up to 22 consecutive innings. The Stone Crabs return home to face the St. Lucie Mets on Saturday with Frank De Los Santos getting the start.

Dayton Dragons 6, Bowling Green Hot Rods 0
Tyler Bortnick, Kyle Spraker and Robbi Estrada were the only Hot Rods to record hits on the night. Team offense combined for 11 total strikeouts. Kirby Yates was charged with the loss. The Hot Rods head to Lansing to begin a series against the Lugnuts on Saturday, Alex Colome will get the start.

Hudson Valley Renegades 4, Auburn Doubledays 3 (11 innings)
Robby Price was 2 for 2 with a double, RBI and 4 walks. Philip Wunderlich was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Mayo Acosta was 2 for 5 with a double and a run scored. The Renegade pitching staff combined for 11 strikeouts. Austin Hubbard picked up the win with a no-hit eleventh frame. The Renegades play the Doubledays in the final game of the series on Saturday.

Elizabethton Twins 2, Princeton Rays 4 (7 innings)
Bryan Fogle was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored. Cesar Guillen was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI's. Brian Harris was 0 for 2 with 2 K's. Scott Lawson was 0 for 3 with 2 K's. Braulio Lara pitched the entire game, striking out 6 and earning the win. The P-Rays hit the road for a series against the Burlington Royals with Eliazer Suero making the start.

GCL Orioles 3, GCL Rays 4 (12 innings)
Juniel Querecuto was 4 for 6 with a run scored. Ryan McCrann was 3 for 5 with a run scored. Alexander Diaz was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Cristian Vasquez drove home the winning run with a single that scored Querecuto. Brian Shouse made his second MLB rehab appearance, pitching an inning. Edward Dorville went 0 for 5 with 3 strikeouts. Peter Woodworth pitched 3 no-hit frames to earn the victory. The GCL Rays travel to Sarasota for a rematch with the GCL Orioles on Saturday.

DSL Royals 3, DSL Rays 5 (7 innings)
D-Rays used a five run sixth inning to win the game. Ariel Soriano was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Hector Rodriguez was 1 for 3 with a triple, 2 RBI's and a run scored. Francisco Vizcaino picked up the win and improved to 2-0. The D-Rays face the D-Dodgers on the road on Saturday.

VSL Rays: day off
The V-Rays return to action on Saturday against the V-Pirates.
