Crab Notes

Charlotte Stone Crabs
Before each game the Charlotte Stone Crabs Media Relations Department sends out notes about the upcoming game. It's a 12 or 13 page document with updated information about every player and the team as a whole, really amazing work by the staff of an A ball team. Here are some of the notes I found interesting (with small edits for clarity and formatting).

- The Stone Crabs (52-38) still have the best overall record in the FSL South, which decides homefield advantage in the Division Series. The Bradenton Marauders (51-38) are a half game back, while the Palm Beach Cardinals (49-39) are two games back.

- Charlotte pitchers registered six more strikeouts last night against the
Manatees and now have an FSL-leading 775, which ranks third best in all the minor leagues. That high total also means the staff remains on pace to break the FSL record of 1,132 set by the 2001 Tampa Yankees. Charlotte finished second by one strikeout to Brevard County for most in the FSL last season - with 1,001.

- As Jim mentioned earlier, Joe Cruz had his scoreless innings streak end last night at 23 innings. Cruz' streak is the second longest in franchise history, behind Zach Quate's 25 consecutive shutout innings earlier this season.

- Reid Fronk ranks fourth in the FSL with a .407 on-base percentage and has reached base in 67 of his 73 games played. That includes reaching in 45-of-his-last-47. Fronk’s also holds a team-leading 22 doubles that have him tied for fourth in the league.

Upcoming probable pitchers:
Friday - Frank De Los Santos (7-4, 4.13 ERA)
Saturday - Matt Moore (4-8, 4.75 ERA)
Sunday - Shane Dyer (4-6, 3.31 ERA)
Monday - Nick Barnese (7-4, 2.83 ERA)
