Friday's Scores and Highlights

Syracuse Chiefs 4, Durham Bulls 5
Elliot Johnson was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Dan Johnson had a two run homer. Desmond Jennings hit a solo blast. Joe Dillon and Dioner Navarro picked up the other RBI's. Bulls pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts. Brian Baker pitched 6 innings with 1 run on 2 hits and 8 strikeouts. Dale Thayer got the win and Winston Abreu the save. Jeremy Hellickson gets the start in Saturday's game against Syracuse.

*Note: The game time for Sunday's game has been changed to 7:05 due to forecasted excessive heat.

Carolina Mudcats 5, Montgomery Biscuits 0
Biscuits lose fourth straight. Rashad Eldridge, Leslie Anderson and Henry Wrigley each picked up a double. Craig Albernaz singled for the only other Biscuit hit. Jeremy Hall suffered the loss. The series against Carolina continues with Alex Torres making the start on Saturday.

Charlotte Stone Crabs 5, Clearwater Threshers 2
Stone Crabs have now won all 6 games against the Threshers this season. Stephen Vogt was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI's and a run scored. Isaias Velasquez was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 runs scored. Reid Fronk snapped his 0 for 13 slump by going 2 for 5 with a solo home run. Michael Sheridan knocked home the other run. Anthony Scelfo struggled at the plate going 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts. Chris Andujar got the win and Brian Shouse the save. The Stone Crabs with Nick Barnese on the hill take on Clearwater on Saturday.

Quad Cities River Bandits 6, Bowling Green Hot Rods 7
Mark Thomas drove home the game winning run and went 3 for 5 with a double, RBI and a run scored. Gabe Cohen was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's. Ryan Wiegand was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI's and a run scored. Cody Rogers struck a triple. Robby Estrada also knocked home a run. Albert Suarez looks to notch his first win when the Hot Rods begin a series at home against Cedar Rapids on Saturday.

Hudson Valley Renegades 5, Aberdeen Iron Birds 2
Philip Wunderlich was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Chris Winder was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Diogenes Luis drove home a run. Nicholas Schwaner was 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts. Jake Thompson earned the his first pro win and Steve Hiscock the save. The Renegades face Aberdeen again on Saturday.

Princeton Rays 3, Bluefield Orioles 2
All three runs came from the bat of Todd Glaesmann, drove home a run in the sixth and had a two run homer in the eighth. Bryan Fogle had the only other multiple base hit with a double. Chris Rearick earned the win and CJ Riefenhauser the save. The P-Rays play Bluefield on Saturday with Victor Mateo making the start.

GCL Orioles, GCL Rays (postponed)
Heavy rains from Tropical Storm Bonnie forced the postponement of Friday's game. The GCL Rays will head to Sarasota to play two games against the GCL Orioles on Saturday, weather permitting.


DSL Rays, DSL Yankees (postponed)
The DSL Rays are off on Saturday.



VSL Rays (no game)
The VSL Rays return to action on Saturday against the VSL Pirates.
