Saturday's Scores and Highlights

Durham Bulls 2, Charlotte Knights 1
Bulls pick up first win since All-Star break. Chris Richard was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Elliot Johnson drove home the other run. Heath Phillips picked up the win and Winston Abreu the save. The Bulls conclude the series with Charlotte on Sunday, Carlos Hernandez will start.

Montgomery Biscuits 5, Tennessee Smokies 4 (14 innings)
Emeel Salem was 2 for 6 with a home run and 2 runs scored. Nevin Ashley was 2 for 7 with a double. Rashad Eldridge was 2 for 6 with an RBI. Matt Sweeney was 2 for 6 with an RBI and a run scored. John Matulia was 2 for 6 with a double and an RBI. Biscuits bullpen gave 7 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Paul Phillips was the winning pitcher. The Biscuits put Alex Torres on the mound as they face Tennessee again on Sunday.

Charlotte Stone Crabs 3, Brevard County Manatees 4
Stone Crabs ninth inning rally fell one run short. Tim Beckham was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Greg Sexton was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Matt Spring and Michael Sheridan each drove home a run. Matt Moore tied his season high strikeouts per game by retiring 11 but still suffered the loss. The Stone Crabs return home to Charlotte Sports Park to begin a four game series against Daytona, Shane Dyer will start the opener.

Bowling Green Hot Rods 0, Peoria Chiefs 5
Hot Rods only managed two hits in the game, Tyler Bortnick and Gabe Cohen. Kyle Lobstein suffered the loss. The Hot Rods face Peoria on Sunday with Albert Suarez getting the start.


Connecticut Tigers 2, Hudson Valley Renegades 10
Steven Tinoco was 3 for 4 with a triple, 3 RBI's and a run scored. Philip Wunderlich was 2 for 4 with a homer, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Holloway was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI. Derek Dietrich, Nick Schwaner and Alejandro Torres also drove home runs. Adam Libertore picked up his first pro win and Robert Dickmann earned the save. The Renegades and Tigers do it again Sunday evening with Miguel Sierra getting the start.

Burlington Royals 3, Princeton Rays 2 (6 innings)
Game completed early due to rain. Brian Fogle was 2 for 2 with 2 doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Hector Guevara was 2 for 2 with an RBI. Jacob Partridge suffered the loss. Enny Romero makes the start on Sunday when the P-Rays face Burlington.

GCL Orioles 3, GCL Rays 4 (11 innings)
Craige Lyerly was 2 for 5 with a double and triple. Kyle Lusson was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Juniel Querecuto and Joel Caminero picked up RBI's in the game. Rays offense had a combined 16 strikeouts. Ryan Fleckenstein picked up the win. The GCL Rays are off on Sunday.

DSL Rays (day off)
The DSL Rays are off for the DSL All-Star Game.



VSL Rays, VSL Pirates (postponed)
The VSL Rays face the VSL Phillies on Sunday.

  2. There are now 17 pitchers, yes you read that right, on the Hudson Valley roster.

  3. They might want to see if any of the 17 Pitchers can hit. They could play the Outfield when they aren't throwing.

    That has to be the worst hitting outfield ever assembled.

  4. I'm on my way out as I see this question, but may want to compare HV vs Princeton OF's. If I get any time tomorrow I will, but if anyone has time, might be interesting. Maybe should compare to overall 2010 team/league, 2009 OF's, and 2009 team/league. Only use guys who are primarily OF's if you decide to do it.
