Minor Moves: Hernandez, Soriano

Tampa Bay Rays
The Durham Bulls activated LHSP Carlos Hernandez from the 7-day disabled list for last night's start against Louisville. He went 4.2 IP and allowed 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6 in Durham's 6-0 shutout of the Bats.

The Rays have signed LHP Dauris Soriano and assigned him to the Dominican Summer League Rays. The 20 year-old is listed at 6'1", 156 pounds. He made his Rays debut yesterday in relief, going 1.0 IP and allowing no hits or walks while striking out 2.

  1. Nope, tried everything. Since he'll be 21 in December, he's not really a July 2nd int'l signing (15-16 year-olds, have to be 16 by early Sept.) like you can read about at BA. Just another arm for the DSL Rays.

Michael, what was the bulletin board you linked to recently? I went there and kind of liked it, wanted to add it to our links page. Can't find your comment with the link now. Appreciate the help. And if there are others I should add to the links, let me know. Not just the usual team pages and DRB and RI, but lesser known good ones. Check the list on the links first, we have WDDB (Chris) and most of the newspapers (and their blogs) that cover the affiliates, anything that should be added?

  2. THat was the Rays Republic. It is a big forum on the Rays. Not too many know about it though, since it is hard to find on google. Go to www.theraysrepublic.com to get there. ;)

  3. Thanks Michael, need to add this and Sean's blog to the links. Have the guys from RaysBB moved to Rays Republic? Hope so, miss RaysBB.

A couple of other minor moves, the Bowling Green Hot Rods activated Dustin Biell off the DL. And the Rays have signed RHP Shane Minks, a senior out of Texas A&M, and assigned him to the GCL Rays. Article:

"Minks signed with the Tampa Bay Rays and will report this weekend to the team's rookie league affiliate, the Gulf Coast League Rays, in Port Charlotte, Florida. The right-hander finished the season 2-2 with a 3.52 ERA, and his 25 relief outings were the second most on the squad. Minks fanned 34 hitters in 38 1/3 innings, holding opponents to a .255 average."
