5/18: The Rundown

David Price dominates(but Durham loses), Bowling Green collects three hits(but wins), and two affiliates get washed out...

Rochester Red Wings 3, Durham Bulls 2
Box | Recap
Notes: Durham fell to 22-15... David Price was, well, David Price: 5 innings of no-hit ball, nine strikeouts and two walks. 50 out of his 82 pitches(61%) were strikes... Julio DePaula allowed two runs in the 6th, including a homerun to former Bull Jason Pridie. Jason Childers took the loss, allowing a run in 3 innings... Both of Durham's runs came in the 1st inning... Reid Brignac was 1-3 with a walk. He's drawn 3 walks in his last 4 games... Matt Joyce was 0-3 with a walk... Just Ruggiano and Joe Dillon drove in the Bulls' runs...

Montgomery Biscuits postponed due to rain
Notes: The Biscuits will play a doubleheader tonight...

Charlotte Stone Crabs postponed due to rain
Notes: Charlotte will also play a doubleheader tonight...

Bowling Green Hot Rods 5, Charleston RiverDogs 3
Box | Recap
Notes: The Hot Rods improved to 19-18... The Hot Rods scored 5 runs despite just 3 hits... Isaias Velasquez drove in the deciding runs in the 8th inning with a triple. He also drove in a run as part of Bowling Green's three-run 4th inning... Tim Beckham collected the only other hit; he was 1-3 with a walk. He's drawn 5 walks in his last 10 games... Joseph Cruz started and went 4 innings, allowing 2 runs(1 earned) on 7 hits, striking out 4. Tyree Hayes allowed an earned run in 3 innings of work. Marquis Fleming got the win, throwing two shutout innings... Bowling Green drew 7 walks, including 3 by Mike McCormick

Durham Bulls - LHP David Price: I think this is the David Price everyone expected. It's pointless to speculate on what was different this start, but 5 no-hit innings to go along with 9 strikeouts is the type of dominance Price simply hasn't shown this year.

Bowling Green Hot Rods - 2B Isaias Velasquez: Had two of the Hot Rods' three hits, including a 2-run triple in the 9th inning to break a 3-3 tie.

Durham Bulls - C John Jaso: The rough month of May continued with another 0-3. He's hitting just .107 in his last 10, but is still drawing walks(5 in that span).

Bowling Green Hot Rods - 1B Mike Sheridan: One of two starters to not reach base, Sheridan went 0-4 and is hitting .237/.239/.386.
