Charlotte Stone Crabs Week in Review: 5/14-5/20

Charlotte Stone CrabsIt was a soggy week for the Stone Crabs, rain caused the Stone Crabs to postpone 3 games during the week. The Stone Crabs will make up 2 of the St. Lucie games when the team travels to St. Lucie in June. Of the games that were played, the Stone Crabs were 2-2 for the week. The games were close with the Stone Crabs only being outscored 6-5 during the week. The Stone Crabs also played their longest game in franchise history, a 14 inning loss to Palm Beach on May 15.

Hitting Leaders: Cody Cipriano continues to lead the offense by hitting .299. Reid Fronk leads the team in doubles with 7 and Emeel Salem in triples with 3. Matt Fields is tied for fourth in the league with 6 home runs and leads the team with 28 RBI’s. Pedro Powell is the team’s stolen base leader with 10.

Pitching Leaders: Alex Cobb leads the starters with a 2.41 ERA. David Newmann leads the team in strikeouts with 40 and is ranked third in the league in K’s. Matt Gorgen picked up his seventh save and is now tied for second in the league.

Team Stats: The Stone Crabs fell to tenth in the league in hitting with a team average of .240. The team pitching improved as the Stone Crabs lowered their team ERA to 3.41 and moved up a spot to sixth in the league. They are second in the league in saves with 13.
