Chris Heisey clubbed a three-run home run in the first inning and ultimately drove in four runs as the Carolina Mudcats rolled past the Biscuits, 8-3, in game four of a five-game series on Friday night at Five County Stadium.

Biscuits' starter Aneury Rodriguez hit the leadoff man for Carolina, Sean Henry, with a breaking ball to start the first inning and the frame went downhill from there for the right-hander. A flair-single to right field followed from Zack Cozart to put two aboard for Heisey. Rodriguez hung a 2-2 breaking-ball to Heisey who drilled it over the left-center field wall for a 3-0 Mudcats' advantage.

Montgomery got a run back in the second, as Carolina starter Jordan Smith walked JT Hall with one out. Hall advanced to second on a ground out and Matt Spring drove him in with the Biscuits first run with a single.

Rodriguez was chased in the fourth as the Mudcats widened the gap with a four-run inning. Rodriguez walked the leadoff man, Logan Parker, and a batter later put two aboard with a one-out walk to Eric Eymann. Jose Castro followed with an RBI single and Henry did the same for a 5-1 lead. Cozart then ripped a run-scoring double to left field to bring in the sixth run of the ballgame for Carolina and send Rodriguez to the showers after 3 1/3 innings. Brian Baker relieved him and gave up an RBI single to Heisey to extend the lead to 7-1.

Rodriguez (2-7) was tagged with his seventh loss of the season, allowing seven earned runs over 3 1/3 innings. He permitted six hits and walked four.

The Biscuits attempted to respond again in the top of the fifth. Jason Bowers opened the inning with a single off of Smith to put one aboard for Desmond Jennings. Jenning cracked his sixth home run high over the wall in left field, the two-run blast pulling the Biscuits back within four at 7-3. Smith was ejected following the home run for Jennings after arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Jordan Baker. His ejection didn't permit him to earn his fifth win.

That distinction went to LHP Camilo Vazquez (2-1), who entered under emergency conditions when Smith was ejected and retired six straight Biscuits over two innings of scoreless work.

Brian Baker relieved Rodriguez and worked 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief, including striking out five. Mike Wlodarczyk followed Baker and worked a scorless seventh. The Mudcats did get to Wlodarczyk for one run to cap the scoring at 8-3 in the eighth.

The series finale is scheduled for Saturday night at 5:15 PM at Five County Stadium. LHP Jason Cromer (4-2, 4.23) will make the start for Montgomery against RHP Curtis Partch (0-0, ---) for Carolina.
