Charlotte Stone Crabs Week in Review: 5/21-5/27

Charlotte Stone CrabsThe Charlotte Stone Crabs were 2-4 on the week and were swept for the first time in franchise history by the division leading Fort Myers Miracle. The Stone Crabs are currently in second place in the FSL South Division with a 22-19 record and are 5 1/2 games behind first place Fort Myers. Although the 2-4 record doesn’t say much on the performance of the club for the week, the Stone Crabs kept their opponents close as all games this week were won or lost by only 1 run each. The highlight of the week was Matt Fields hitting three home runs during a double header on 5/27 with two of them in the same game, he was the first Stone Crab player in franchise history to hit multiple home runs in a game.

Hitting Leaders: Cody Cipriano continues to lead the team with a .330 batting average which is fourth best in the league and third in the league with a .528 slugging percentage. With Pedro Powell being promoted, Shawn O’Malley took over the team lead in stolen bases with 11 swipes this season.

The Week Ahead: 5/28/09-5/29/09: at Clearwater (21-20), 5/30/09-6/2/09: at Tampa (19-24), 6/3/09: vs Daytona (19-21).

  1. when is the all star announced?

  2. I am not sure when the FSL releases the all-star roster. I would imagine it wouldn't be much longer since the game is 3 weeks away. It will be interesting to see who gets the vote.

My guesses are Cipriano, Fields, Downs and Gorgen. But that is just an opinion, not based on anything official.
