Charlotte Stone Crabs fall to Fort Myers

Charlotte Stone CrabsThe Game: The Charlotte Stone Crabs were on the losing side of a pitching duel as they fell to the Fort Myers Miracle 2-1 at Hammond Stadium. The Miracle wasted no time getting things started as they scored in the bottom of the first. Ben Revere led off the inning with a double to left and then later scored off an RBI single by Evan Bigley to put the Miracle ahead 1-0. The Stone Crabs battled back to tie the game in the top of the second. Cody Cipriano singled to right and then was singled home by Nevin Ashley to tie the game at 1-1.

Jeremy Hall and Deolis Guerra then held both offenses in check, not allowing another run until the bottom of the fifth. That’s when it all fell apart for Hall as he began to struggle with control. He started off by walking Jair Fernandez and Ben Revere. Steve Singleton followed with a single to load the bases for Danny Berg. Danny Berg was hit by a pitch and the go ahead run crossed the plate. The Stone Crabs were unable to push across another run and the Miracle held on for the win 2-1.

Jeremy Hall was the losing pitcher going 6 innings and surrendering 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 4 and walking 3. Rayner Oliveros pitched 2 shut out innings in relief allowing 2 hits and 1 strikeout. Deolis Guerra was the winning pitcher for Fort Myers.

What Went Right: Cody Cipriano; 3-4 with a run scored.
