5/23: The Rundown

Durham loses three players(and a game), Montgomery loses one late, the Crabs win a short one, and Bowling Green can only score 2 runs on 12 hits...

Notes: Durham fell to 25-16... Mitch Talbot put the Bulls in a hole early, allowing a run in the 1st and three more in the 3rd. His final line: 5 ip 9 h 5 er 2 bb 2 so... Durham's only runs came on a 3-run homerun by Chris Richard in the 6th... Ray Olmedo got the start at SS with Reid Brignac getting called-up... Matt Joyce was 2-4. John Jaso was 0-2 but drew two walks...

Jacksonville Suns 3, Montgomery Biscuits 2

Notes: The Biscuits fell to 21-21... Brian Baker and William Glen matched zeros for five innings, and it wasn't until the bottom of the 7th that Jacksonville broke through with a run. The Biscuits scored two in the 8th, but Neal Frontz allowed the Suns to tie it in the bottom half, and Eduardo Morlan got the loss when he walked in a run in the 9th... Desmond Jennings was 0-3 with a walk... Fernando Cortez and Drew Anderson had two hits apiece...

Notes: Charlotte improved to 21-16... David Newmann was good again, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits in 5 innings. He struck out 5 and only walked 1... Matt Gorgen's twin brother Scott started for Palm Beach, allowing 3 runs(2 earned) in 4.2 innings... Pedro Powell, Greg Sexton, and Reid Fronk had RBIs for the Crabs...

Notes: Bowling Green fell to 21-19... Shane Dyer struck out 6 and didn't walk anyone, but he dropped to 0-3, allowing 3 runs(2 earned) in 5 innings. His ERA stands at 3.98... Tim Beckham went 3-5 with a double. He was caught stealing for the 5th time and committed his 11th error... Anthony Scelfo, Mike McCormick, and Jason Tweedy all had multiple hits...

Durham Bulls - OF Matt Joyce: He stayed hot with two hits, and is now 8 for his last 13.

Montgomery Biscuits - RHP Brian Baker: Very effective in his spot start, blanking the Suns for 5 innings.

Charlotte Stone Crabs - LHP David Newmann: He has been very good in the strikeout and groundball departments: 45 strikeouts in 41.1 innings woith a 3.35 GO/AO rate.

Bowling Green Hot Rods - RHP

Durham Bulls - DH Jon Weber: Went 0-5 from the leadoff spot.

Montgomery Biscuits - Top Six In The Order: A combined 0-19.

Charlotte Stone Crabs - DH Matt Fields: 0-3 with two strikeouts.

Bowling Green Hot Rods - C Jake Jefferies: Took an 0-5 from the 3rd spot in the order.
