Charlotte Stone Crabs shut out by Palm Beach

Charlotte Stone CrabsThe Game: The Stone Crabs were shut out by the Palm Beach Cardinals 2-0 at Roger Dean Stadium. The Stone Crabs have lost 3 of the last 4 against the Cardinals. Palm Beach put their first run on the board in the bottom of the third as Adron Chambers hit a sac fly to score Francisco Rivera.

The second run of the night for the Cardinals came in the fifth inning. Once again it was the Chambers/Rivera combo this time an RBI single by Chambers gets the job done and gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead in which they held on to the end.

Jesse Darcy was charged with the loss, pitching 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out 4. Paul Phillips pitched 2 innings of shutout relief striking out 2 while allowing only 1 hit. Nicholas Additon was the winning pitcher for Palm Beach.

What Went Right: Ryan Royster; collected 2 of the 3 Stone Crabs hits on the night, both of them doubles.

What Went Wrong: The Offense; 0 runs and only 3 hits with 6 strikeouts.

A Look Ahead: The Charlotte Stone Crabs and Palm Beach Cardinals go at it for game two of the three game series at Roger Dean Stadium. David Newmann will pitch against David Kopp.
