The Charlotte Stone Crabs have signed C Christian Lopez, who was a minor league free agent. Lopez played for Vero Beach in 2008, putting up a .224/.243/.313 line in 134 AB's. The 24 year-old was originally drafted by the Rays in the 6th round of the 2003 draft. There are now five catchers on the Stone Crabs' active roster.
