4/20: The Rundown

Durham Bulls 11, Charlotte Knights 2
Box | Recap
Notes: Durham is on a four game winning streak. They sit at 9-3... Heath Phillips started and lasted 5.1 innings. He allowed only 1 earned run thanks to Joe Bateman working out of a jam in the 6th... Heath Rollins pitched a scoreless 8th. Joaquin Benoit allowed a solo homerun in the 9th. He struck out a batter... Desmond Jennings was 2-6 with two singles and two RBIs... Dan Johnson hit his 5th homerun of the season... Angel Chavez added a three-run shot... Jose Lobaton went 3-4...
The Leftovers: Jose Lobaton is 4-6 with three walks in Durham. Extremely small sample size and everything, but if John Jaso struggles in the majors while Lobaton hits in AAA, Lobaton could be promoted as he is on the 40-man roster... All 10 of Hank Blalock's hit this season have been singles...

Chattanooga Lookouts 7, Montgomery Biscuits 5
Box | Recap
Notes: Montgomery fell to 6-5... Alex Torres struck out 6 and only walked 1, but he allowed 6 runs(5 earned) on 7 hits in 4 innings... Eduardo Morlan allowed a run in two innings while Paul Phillips finished the game with 2 scoreless innings... Ryan Royster hit a 3-run homerun... Matt Fields drove the other two runs in...
The Leftovers: Alex Torres went through two stretches where he couldn't get outs: In the 2nd inning, he allowed two doubles, a single, a player reached on an error, and then another double before recording an out. In the 3rd inning, he was greeted with three consecutive singles and his only walk...Even with the homerun, Royster is still hitting under .100 for the season...

Fort Myers Miracle 3, Charlotte Stone Crabs 2 (10 innings)
Box | Recap
Notes: Charlotte fell to 5-4... Chris Andujar allowed 2 runs in 6 innings... Marquis Fleming struck out 4 in 2 innings of relief... Josh Satow got the loss, allowing a run in the bottom of the 10th... Tim Beckham went 0-3 with a walk... Matt Hall went 3-4... Isaias Velasquez and Kyeong Kang each had two hits... Matt Sweeney went 0-4...
The Leftovers: Three players in Charlotte's lineup are hitting below .100: Tim Beckham(.077), Mike Sheridan(.091), and Stephen Vogt(.077)...

Lansing Lugnuts 9, Bowling Green Hot Rods 2
Box | Recap
Notes: Bowling Green dropped to 3-5... Jason McEachern started and ran into some trouble, allowing 4 earned runs on 9 hits in 4 innings. He walked 2 and struck out 1... Matt Stabelfeld allowed 5 runs in relief... As a team, Bowling Green allowed 18 hits... Scott Shuman pitched a hitless, scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts... Offensively, the Hot Rods had just three hits: Dustin Biell, Eli Sonoqui, and Ty Morrison... Biell had two RBIs...
The Leftovers: Jason McEachern couldn't build on his solid K-BB from last start. On the season, he's allowed 22 hits in just 12.2 innings of work. His 10-5 K-BB isn't terrible, but it's a step down. I don't think the Rays will send him back to short-season ball(certainly not after 3 starts), but he's likely on a shorter leash than Kyle Lobstein and Alexander Colome, as he's a year and change younger...
