Montgomery Biscuits earn first win 1-0 against Mobile Bay Bears

The Game: The Montgomery Biscuits recorded their first win of the season on Saturday by defeating the Mobile Bay Bears 1-0 at Riverwalk Stadium in a great pitching duel.

Both starting pitchers went eye to eye, strike for strike until the sixth when the bullpens took over. That's when Mobile blinked and the Biscuits capitalized. Drew Anderson singled to left. John Matulia followed with a triple to right, scoring Anderson and giving the Biscuits the lead. But with the Biscuits pitching on the night, that's all that was needed as they cruised to a 1-0 victory.

Jake McGee was dominate in the start, pitching 5 shut-out innings and allowing only 3 hits with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks. Justin Garcia recovered from his rough outing last night by throwing 2 no-hit innings and striking out 3 to earn the win. Paul Phillips got the save, 2 innings, 2 hits and 2 strikeouts.

Biscuits Player of the Game: Jake McGee; no runs, 3 hits and 3 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched.

RP Top Prospect Watch:
Jake McGee: 5 innings, no runs, 3 hits, 3 K's and 2 walks.

A Look Ahead: The Biscuits (1-2) look to even the series against the Bay Bears (2-2) on Sunday at Riverwalk Stadium. David Newmann will start for Montgomery, facing Brian Shaw for Mobile.
