Charlotte Stone Crabs drop second game to Fort Myers Miracle 2-1

The Game: The Charlotte Stone Crabs continue to struggle against the Fort Myers Miracle, losing 2-1 on Wednesday night at Charlotte Sports Park.

The Miracle took an early lead in the second inning. Nick Romero and Evan Bigley started off the inning with back to back walks. Nate Hanson drove home the run with an RBI single to score Romero and give them a 1-0 lead.

Fort Myers extended their lead in the second inning. Yangervis Solarte double on a line drive to lead off the inning. Drew Thompson followed with a double to right that scored Solarte and increased the lead to 2-0.

Charlotte pushed across a run in the eighth inning to avoid being shut-out. Matt Hall led off the inning with a single to left. Anthony Scelfo followed with an RBI double to score Hall and cut the lead in half. But the Stone Crabs could not manage another run and lost 2-1.

Matt Moore pitched 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits with 7 strikeouts and 3 walks in the loss. Neil Schenk pitched 2 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits with 2 strikeouts. Josh Satow pitched two no-hit innings with 4 strikeouts and a walk.

Stone Crabs Player of the Game: Matt Moore; struck-out 7 hitters in 5 innings and only allowed 3 hits.

Jake Jefferies: 2 for 4 with a double.
Kyeong Kang: 0 for 4 with a strikeout.

A Look Ahead: The Stone Crabs (3-2) look to avoid the sweep as they wrap up the series against the Fort Myers Miracle (2-4) on Thursday night at Charlotte Sports Park. Nick Barnese (1-0, 2.84) will make the start for Charlotte, facing Bobby Lanigan (0-0, 0.00) for Fort Myers.
