4/22: The Rundown

Durham Bulls 6, Charlotte Knights 5 (12 innings)
Box | Recap
Notes: Durham is on a six game winning streak. They sit at 11-3... Virgil Vasquez allowed all 5 runs over 4.2 innings of work. Joe Bateman(2), Joaquin Benoit(1.1), Winston Abreu(1), Dale Thayer(1.2), and Brian Baker(1.1) held Charlotte scoreless the rest of the way... Benoit struck out 2 and didn't allow a baserunner... Dan Johnson hit his 7th homerun of the season... Hank Blalock also homered... Fernando Perez went 3-5, the only Bull with multiple hits. He scored the winning run on an error... Desmond Jennings went 1-5 with a walk...
The Leftovers: It was only a matter of time before Durham got rolling. Their starting rotation still isn't great, but they do a good enough job considering how good the offense and bullpen are... I really don't know how much longer the Rays can hold Joaquin Benoit down...

Chattanooga Lookouts 6, Montgomery Biscuits 5
Box | Recap
Notes: Montgomery fell to 7-6... Jake McGee left the game after 2.1 innings with a leg injury... Montgomery rallied for 3 in the 9th but couldn't push across the tying run... Justin Garcia got the loss, and Ryan Reid allowed 3 runs in 3 innings... Nevin Ashley, Cody Strait, and Drew Anderson each had two hits...
The Leftovers: I haven't yet seen an update on Jake McGee, which probably means it isn't too serious. And it's at least nice to hear it wasn't his elbow again. Still, Montgomery has lost two starters now, Aneury Rodriguez to a promotion and McGee to injury. We'll see how the rotation shakes out...

Fort Myeyrs Miracle 4, Charlotte Stone Crabs 2
Box | Recap
Notes: Charlotte fell to 6-5... Nick Barnese struck out 8 and walked only 1 over 5 innings, but allowed 4 runs on 10 hits... Tim Beckham went 2-4 with an RBI... Matt Field homered for the other Charlotte run... Matt Sweeney went 0-2 but walked twice...
The Leftovers: Still waiting for a truly dominant start from a pitcher at Charlotte or Bowling Green... Tim Beckham has struck out at least 1 time in every game so far this season...

South Bend Silver Hawks 3, Bowling Green Hot Rods 0
Box | Recap
Notes: Bowling Green dropped to 3-11... Wilking Rodriguez allowed only 1 earned run over 6 innings, but still took the loss. He struck out just 2, and walked 1... Dustin Biell, Tyler Bortnick, and Ryan Wiegand had the only hits for the Hot Rods...
The Leftovers: Where in the world is the offense for the Hot Rods?
