Montgomery Biscuits earn walk-off win against Mobile Bay Bears 3-2

The Game: The Montgomery Biscuits defeated the Mobile BayBears 3-2 on Monday night at Riverwalk Stadium. Backed by a strong debut by Jeremy Hall, the Biscuits held a shut-out into the ninth inning.

The Biscuits broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning. Emeel Salem led off the inning with a single to center. Salem would later score on a single by Matt Fields to give them a 1-0 lead.

Mobile reached the scoreboard in the ninth inning. Evan Frey singled to second to led off the inning. Ollie Linton moved him to second with a sac bunt. Collin Cowgill followed with a singled to left that scored Frey, Cowgill was out trying to stretch it into a double. Konrad Schmidt then struck a solo home run to give the Bay Bears a 2-1 lead.

The Biscuits rallied to regain the lead and avoid the loss in the bottom of the ninth. Greg Sexton singled to center to get things started. Drew Anderson took over on the bases for Sexton and advanced to third on a single by Matt Fields. Cody Cipriano singled to center to score Anderson and move Fields to second. Ryan Royster then drew a walk to load the bases. John Matulia drove home the winning run with a line drive to right to score Fields and give the Biscuits a 3-2 walk-off victory.

Jeremy Hall pitched 7 shut-out innings and allowed 4 hits while striking out 5 and walking 1. Rayner Oliveros followed with a no hit inning recording a strikeout. Darin Downs pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits. Ryan Reid recorded the win with a no-hit 1/3 inning, striking out the only hitter he faced.

Biscuits Player of the Game: Jeremy Hall; started AA right where he left off in Charlotte, dominating with 7 shut-out innings.

A Look Ahead: The Biscuits have a day off on Tuesday before traveling to Five County Stadium to face the Carolina Mudcats (4-1). Alex Torres (0-0) will start for the Biscuits, facing Matt Klinker (1-0) for Carolina.
