6/8: The Rundown

Durham Bulls 5, Pawtucket Red Sox 4

Notes: Durham improved to 36-21... Matt DeSalvo pitched 5.1 scoreless innings, but Pawtucket went up 4-1 in the 7th, scoring three runs off Joe Bateman and one off Dale Thayer. Durham rallied in the 9th, tying the game on a fielding error and taking the lead on a Chris Richard groundout... Winston Abreu stuck out 2 in the 9th to nail down his 10th save... Henry Mateo went 3-5... Rashad Eldridge and Ray Olmedo had two hits apiece...

Notes: The Biscuits improved to 27-31... Each team was scoreless for the first 9 innings... Heath Rollins pitched the first 7, Eduardo Morlan got the win pitching two innings, and Mike Wlodarczyk got the save... Fernando Cortez drove in the first run in the 10th... Desmond Jennings was 2-4 with a walk...

Charlotte Stone Crabs rained out
Notes: Charlotte and Brevard County will play two today...

Bowling Green Hot Rods 10, Asheville Tourists 8

Notes: Bowling Green improved to 28-28... Asheville's offense finally broke out after Barnese and Moore shut them down, but the Hot Rods got 3 in the 9th to go up 10-7 and held on for the win... Shane Dyer started and allowed 5 earned runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings... Jamie Bagley got the win, allowing 2 runs in 3.2 relief innings... Tim Beckham had maybe his best day at the plate, going 4-4 with two doubles and a walk... Henry Wrigley had a double, a homerun, and four RBIs...

Durham Bulls - RHP Winston Abreu: He walked two but closed out the game again for Durham. He has 47 strikeouts in 31 innings on the year.

Montgomery Biscuits - RHP Heath Rollins: He's had a bit of a rocky season, but he was great yesterday, tossing 7 scoreless innings. He allowed just 3 hits and a walk, and struck out 6.

Bowling Green Hot Rods - SS Tim Beckham: Reached base all 5 plate appearances, with four hits(two doubles) and a walk. Hitting .300/.358/.432 on the year.

Down
Durham Bulls - Chris Richard and Ray Sadler combined to go 0-9, though each drove a run in.

Montgomery Biscuits - OF Joe Gaetti: Went 0-4 and is hitting just .063 as a Biscuit.

Bowling Green Hot Rods - C Mike McCormick & OF Justin Reynolds: The only starters to not get hits for Bowling Green.
