7th Round Pick Cody Rogers Signs

Longview News-Journal:

Rogers' signing included an undisclosed bonus, insurance coverage and another aspect that sold him on the idea of signing with the organization rather than following through on his previous intentions of playing at Texas A&M next year.

"They're giving me money to go back to school to complete the rest of college," Rogers said. "It'll be 100 percent paid for. That's really the main thing."

Rogers flies east this weekend to begin his career as a professional baseball player with the Princeton Rays, Tampa Bay's rookie-league affiliate in West Virginia. Rogers expects to patrol center field for Princeton, which plays in the Appalachian League.
