4/18: Up & Down

Durham Bulls 5, Charlotte Knights 0

Charlotte Stone Crabs 7, St. Lucie Mets 6

Notes: Charlotte improved to 3-5... David Newmann allowed 5 runs(3 earned) in 5 innings... Charlotte scored 5 in the 8th to rally from a 6-2 deficit... The Crabs committed three errors...

Bowling Green Hot Rods 8, Kannapolis Intimidators 4

Notes: Bowling Green improved to 5-4... This game was their home opener... Four Hot Rods players collected two hits... Mike Sheridan drove in three runs... Bowling Green committed four errors, all in the 6th inning... Tommy Rafferty got the win, Jamie Bagley the save.

Durham Bulls - C John Jaso: Jaso doubled twice as part of a 2-4 night and is hitting .320 on the season. One Knight player stole a base in their only attempt.

Montgomery Biscuits - OF Desmond Jennings: Only went 1-4, but the hit went for extra bases(a double) and he later reached on an error and stole a base.

Charlotte Stone Crabs - RHP Matt Gorgen: Pitched two scoreless innings for his 2nd save of the year, allowing just 2 hits while striking out 3.

Bowling Green Hot Rods - SS Tim Beckham: Beckham went 2-4 with 2 RBIs, although he did commit his first error of the year.

Down
Durham Bulls - OF Justin Ruggiano: Took an 0-5 and is down to .176 on the season.

Montgomery Biscuits - 1B Rhyne Hughes: Went 0-4 and struck out three times. Hitting just .200 on the year.

Charlotte Stone Crabs - LHP David Newmann: Newmann wasn't that bad today, but he's still sporting an ERA over 11 on the year. Keep in mind that this year is his first real game action since college in 2007.

Bowling Green Hot Rods - CF Anthony Scelfo: Was the only Hot Rod to not pick up a hit, although he did reach on a walk.
