Charlotte Stone Crabs Week in Review: 4/16-4/22

Charlotte Stone CrabsThe Stone Crabs were .500 on the week going 3-3. The week was highlighted by the first series win in franchise history against the league leading Palm Beach Cardinals and scoring their first home win Wednesday night against Sarasota. The Stone Crabs are currently in fourth place in the FSL South Division with a 5-7 record and are 3 games back from division leading Fort Myers.

Hitting Leaders: Gregory Sexton is currently on an 10 game hitting streak and leads the team with a .327 batting average and hits with 16. Matt Fields is also on a hitting streak at 9 games and still leads the team in home runs with 3, but has dropped in the league ranking to tied for third.

Pitching Leaders: Darin Downs leads the pitchers with two wins and is 2-0 on the season with a 1.93 ERA and strikeouts at 15. Austin Hinkle and Matt Gorgen both have two saves so far this year.

Team Stats: The Stone Crabs improved their team batting average to .268 and are now ranked 7th in the league. They are also ranked third in the league with 5 triples. The Stone Crabs also improved their team ERA to 4.43 and are third in the league with 93 strikeouts and have issued the second least walks in the league with 25.

Transactions: Diogenes Luis was sent to extended spring training (4/21/09). Matt Hall was added to the roster from Montgomery (4/21/09). Jose Mejias was transferred to Hudson Valley (4/21/09). Rayner Oliveros was added from Hudson Valley (4/21/09).

Injuries: None
