West Virginia Power 5, Bowling Green Hot Rods 3
Box | Recap
Notes: Michael Jarman started instead of the scheduled Matt Moore, presumably due to the rain delay and field conditions... Anthony Scelfo went 3-5... Tim Beckham was 0-4 but reached on a walk...

Up
Durham Bulls - C John Jaso: Jaso reached base two of his three plate appearances, once each via hit and walk. There's little question that Jaso can hit, but questions remain about his defense. For what it's worth, he threw out Reid Goreki today and is 1 for 3 on the season in that department.

Montgomery Biscuits - RHP Jeremy Hellickson: For his second straight start, Hellickson didn't allow a run. He's pitched 10.2 scoreless innings with a 9-3 K-BB rate. He's gotten just 6 groundball outs as opposed to 16 flyball outs.

Charlotte Stone Crabs - RHP Matt Gorgen: It might not take much longer for Gorgen to show that he's a legitimate relief prospect. He struck out the side(although he did allow two baserunners) for the save tonight, and has 5 strikeouts in 3 innings so far, after he struck out 35 in 23 innings last year.

Bowling Green Hot Rods - OF Anthony Scelfo: The Rays 8th rounder in 2008, Scelfo was the only Hot Rod player to collect multiple hits, going 3-5 from the leadoff spot.

Down
Durham Bulls - OF Matt Joyce: In his first game with the Bulls, Joyce DH'd and went 0-3 at the plate.

Montgomery Biscuits - N/A: Every starter reached base at least once.

Charlotte Stone Crabs - OF Emeel Salem: Salem went 0-4 and his hitting .188 on the year.

Bowling Green Hot Rods - RHP Tyree Hayes: In 2+ innings of relief, Hayes allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits. In 4 innings on the season, Hayes has allowed 8 earned runs.

  3. Hayes has a really weird stat line. He has 16 strikeouts to just 2 walks in 12.1 innings, he has a 3.00 GO/AO, but his ERA is over 7.
