Indians Hit Four Homers, Beat Bulls 9-1

Desmond Jennings was 2 for 5 with a triple on Tuesday.[Game recap provided by Neil Solondz of the Durham Bulls.]

(Indianapolis, IN) On the day he was named to the Futures Game, Desmond Jennings went 2-for-5 with a triple, but the Bulls could put little together on Tuesday in a 9-1 loss to Indianapolis.

Heath Phillips (6-6) had been terrific over the previous four starts, allowing just one run on each. Jeff Clement and Jonathan Van Every homered off Phillips in the second inning for a 3-0 lead in what turned out to be the lefty's toughest outing of the season.

Phillips surrendered four homers and gave up eight runs and 10 hits in 5.1 innings. Justin Garcia, just up from Montgomery, made his Triple-A debut, and ate up the final 2.2 innings, allowing a run on two hits.

Durham was held to seven hits by three Indians pitchers. Hayden Penn (3-2), Justin Thomas and Steven Jackson held the Bulls to 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

Durham (42-29) still has the best record in the IL, but it is 3-4 on its nine-game road trip. Richard De Los Santos (6-3) will look to help the Bulls bounce back on Wednesday afternoon against the Pirates' top farm team. Coverage on 620 the Buzz begins at 12:45 with first pitch at one. Lefty Brian Burres starts for the Indians.
