Stone Crabs Shut Out by Palm Beach

The Charlotte Stone Crabs were shut-out by the Palm Beach Cardinals 3-0 on Sunday evening at Charlotte Sports Park. The offense struggled to get anything going, only managing three hits of which none of the baserunners even made it into scoring position.

Palm Beach scored in the first inning. Thomas Pham led off the game with a double to right field. Jarred Bogany drove home the runner with a line drive to left, giving the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.

The Cardinal added to their lead in the fifth inning. Colt Sedbrook singled to right to lead off the inning. Sedbrook stole second then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Jermaine Curtis singled to right to score Sedbrook to give them a 2-0 lead.

Palm Beach added one more insurance run in the ninth inning. Jarred Bogany drew a walk. Bogany would later score on a sac fly by Oliver Marmol to give the Cardinals the 3-0 margin of victory.

Matt Moore suffered the loss despite a solid performance on the mound. Moore allowed 2 runs on 5 hits with 11 strikeouts and 2 walks in 6 innings pitch. Rayner Oliveros made his first appearance as a Stone Crab this season with 3 innings pitched, allowing 1 run on 1 hits with 3 strikeouts and a walk.

The Stone Crabs will look to get things turned around when they face the Cardinals on Monday night at Charlotte Sports Park. Chris Andujar (6-1, 3.15) will make the start for the Stone Crabs facing Scott Schneider (1-0, 0.00) for Palm Beach.
