5/7: The Rundown

Durham Bulls 13, Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees 8

Notes: Durham improved to 18-10... Aneury Rodriguez struggled for the second straight start. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits over 2.1 innings. He walked 4 and struck out 1... Brian Baker and Heath Rollins combined to allow 5 runs in relief... The Bulls broke an 8-8 tie with a five-run 8th inning, getting home runs from Jose Lobaton and Hank Blalock... Mike Ekstrom got the win with 2 scoreless innings... Alvin Colina also homered for the Bulls... Joe Dillon and Chris Richard drove in two runs apiece...
The Leftovers: Hank Blalock is now hitting .378/.429/.537... Aneury Rodriguez has lasted just 3.1 and 2.1 innings his last two starts...

Jacksonville Suns 9, Montgomery Biscuits 3

Notes: Montgomery fell to 16-11... Alex Torres struck out 5 but lasted only 3 innings. He allowed 5 runs(2 earned) on 6 hits and 3 walks... Dane De La Rosa allowed 3 runs in relief... Matt Gorgen tossed two scoreless innings... John Matulia was the only Biscuit with 2 hits...
The Leftovers:

Charlotte Stone Crabs 8, Bradenton Marauders 1

Notes: Charlotte improved to 16-10... Nick Barnese got the win, pitching 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball. He struck out 5 and walked 0... Josh Satow finished out the game... Tim Beckham returned the lineup and went 0-4 with three strikeouts and a walk... The bottom 4 of the order(Matt Spring, Jake Jefferies, Reid Fronk, and Matt Hall) combined for 9 hits...
The Leftovers: Barnese has a 32-4 K-BB ratio on the season. His secondary stuff has not developed as some hoped, but his control potentially becoming a plus is nice to see...

Notes: Bowling Green improved to 8-19... Shane Dyer and Kirby Yates combined on a 1-hitter. Dyer threw 7 no-hit innings, striking out 8 and walking 1... Yates allowed the hit but recorded 6 strikeouts... Dyer and Yates combined to hit three batters... The Hot Rods run came on a Chris Murrill RBI...
The Leftovers: In his second rodeo with the Hot Rods, Dyer has been the best pitcher on the stuff, results-wise. He's got a 1.25 ERA and a 28-4 K-BB rate. 3 of those 4 walks came in one start...
