5/21: The Rundown

Toledo Mud Hens 4, Durham Bulls 0

Notes: Durham lost their fifth game in a row to fall to 23-19. They've scored just 6 runs during the losing streak... Heath Phillips put the clamps on the Mud Hens for 5 innings, but coughed up 3 runs in the 6th... Max Scherzer started for Toledo and shut the Bulls down, allowing 1 hit over 8 innings while striking out 10... Elliot Johnson and Rashad Eldridge had the only hits for the Bulls...
The Leftovers: Desmond Jennings is officially in a funk now, just 2 for his last 19. He started in left field while Justin Ruggiano played center...

Montgomery Biscuits 3, West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx 0

Notes: Montgomery improved to 22-18... Jeremy Hall got his first win of the season, shutting out the Jaxx for 7 innings. He allowed 7 hits, struck out 3, and didn't walk a hitter... Matt Gorgen got the save... Matt Sweeney went 1-3 with a walk and an RBI... John Matulia, Emeel Salem and Nevin Ashley each had 2 hits...
The Leftovers: Gorgen's ERA is down to 1.83, though his 16-11 K-BB doesn't quite compare his his stellar numbers with Charlotte a season ago...

Charlotte Stone Crabs 11, Brevard County Manatees 8

Notes: Charlotte improved to 21-19... Frank De Los Santos got hit hard, allowing 7 runs (5 earned) in 3.1 innings. But the Crabs hit Brevard County starter and former Rays farmhand Josh Butler equally as hard, tagging him for 7 runs as well... Tommy Rafferty got the win out of the bullpen, Neil Schenk pitched 2 scoreless innings, and Zach Quate worked the 9th for the save, striking out 2... Tim Beckham went 2-5 with a double and 2 RBIs... Matt Joyce was 2-5 with a home run... Leslie Anderson was 0-4 but drew a walk...
The Leftovers: Zach Quate's K-BB is now 32-3 in 21.2 innings...

Great Lakes Loons 7, Bowling Green Hot Rods 5

Notes: Bowling Green fell to 12-27... Jason McEachern struck out 7 and walked 2 over 6 innings, but took the loss, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits... Chris Murrill reached base 5 times, going 3-3 with two walks. He also stole 2 bases... Ty Morrison scored 2 runs...
