Up
Durham Bulls - RHP Dale Thayer: Sadler and Kennedy had great days, but of the "prospects" only Thayer really stood out, throwing two scoreless innings in relief. He's thrown 5 innings without a run on the season.

Montgomery Biscuits - CF Desmond Jennings: Jennings reached base all five plate appearances: He reached on an error, was hit by a pitch, walked twice, and tripled. In the 2nd inning, he walked, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout, and stole home.

Charlotte Stone Crabs - RHP Alex Cobb: Cobb was very effective again in his second start, allowing 2 unearned runs and taking the hard-luck loss. He struck out four and walked one in 5.2 innings, and posted and 11:2 groundout-flyout rate.

Bowling Green Hot Rods - LHP Matt Moore: Moore rebounded from a poor opening day outing, allowing just 1 hit and 2 walks in 5 shutout innings. He struck out 6 en route to his first win of the year. He also picked off a runner.

Down
Durham Bulls - Reid Brignac/Justin Ruggiano/Matt Joyce: The trio combined to go 0-14(Joyce walked once) with 5 strikeouts, and Brignac grounded into two double plays.

Montgomery Biscuits - RHP Aneury Rodriguez: After allowing 6 runs in his first start, the right-hander acquired for Jason Hammel wasn't much better this time out, walking 6 and allowing 4 runs in just 2.2 innings. His line would be even worse had Brian Baker not come in in the 3rd and retired a batter with the bases loaded.

Charlotte Stone Crabs - SS Shawn O'Malley: O'Malley went 0-4 at the plate and committed an error that helped lead to two St. Lucie runs.

Bowling Green Hot Rods - 1B Mike Sheridan: He drove in a run with a sacrifice fly but went 0-3 and had his batting average dip to .208 on the year. In 24 at bats, he hasn't walked or been struck out.

  7. Doug,

Do you have any info on when Barnese and Kang will be ready to join the Hot Rods?

  8. Last Saturday Nick Hanson talked to him (see Extended Spring Training Tidbits on 4/11) and wrote this: 'Nick Barnese is in extended spring training, but will be heading to Bowling Green in about three weeks. "Just a little shoulder tendonitis," said Barnese. He appears to be throwing just fine, and said he is pain free.'

I haven't heard anything since. Hopefully N.H. will be able to go again this Saturday and post an update. I haven't heard anything on Kang.
