Introducing Overtime with Josh Grant

[Josh Grant, the PA voice of the Stone Crabs, has started a sports talk radio show in the Sarasota/Manatee market on the West Coast of Florida. Here is a copy of the Q&A I did with him on the show. The show is available locally as well as nationally through online streaming radio]

The radio waves of Southwest Florida are about to get a much needed upgrade as WTMY 1280 adds sports talk radio on August 15. One of the segments featured is a voice that all of us in Stone Crabs nation have heard before. Josh Grant, the Stone Crabs PA announcer, will be hosting "Overtime with Josh Grant" a weekly 2-hour sports show that will air on Thursday nights.

To help introduce the show, I sat down with Josh to learn a little about the show.

Claw Digest: Tell us a little about the show.

Josh Grant: I picked Overtime with Josh because even though I am only on one night a week for now, I am the last show before the affiliate starts. With that being said, with a night time show, I want to attract a younger audience, a night time audience that is serious about sports, and wants to have some fun.

Claw Digest: What subjects do you plan on covering?

Josh Grant: We're going to go everywhere with Overtime. Football, baseball, basketball, hockey, golf, the list goes on. My first show actually coincides with opening night of the NFL with the Saints and Packers, so im sure opening night will be dominated by football. I am going to focus on the hot sports topics, and go inside them, find some other stories other than the headlines.

Claw Digest: Are you looking to cover local sports or national sporting news?

Josh Grant: That depends on what the callers want to speak about. Obviously high school athletics are big in Florida so we'll touch on prep stuff, we'll go local stuff with the Bucs, Rays and Lightning, and we'll go National. There is no set format, we can talk about anything.

Claw Digest: What will set the show apart from other sports shows?

Josh Grant: Every sports talk radio host starts off wanting it to be a caller driven show, some follow up, some don't. I want people to call in and feel like they can share their opinion and not get shut down if I dont agree with it. Not every caller is going to be good, but everyone will have the same chance to get their voice out there and be heard.

Claw Digest: Is there anything else you would like to add?

Josh Grant: I want to thank the Sports Ministry guys for giving me a chance to be on the radio doing what I love, and for you and Rays Prospects for getting Overtime with Josh out there on the web. You can visit my Facebook fan page at Overtime with Josh, or follow me on Twitter at OvertimewithJG.

Josh's show starts on September 8th at 6pm locally in the Sarasota/Manatee area on 1280 AM or online at http://www.blogger.com/www.wtmy.com. You can also follow the show online via Facebook or Twitter.
