5/6: The Rundown

Durham Bulls off
Notes: Durham sits at 17-10...
The Leftovers:

Montgomery Biscuits 2, Jacksonville Suns 1
Box | Recap
Notes: Montgomery has taken the first two in the series. They improved to 16-10... Jake McGee started and allowed a run on 3 hits over 2.1 innings. He wasn't very economical with his pitches, needing 61 to get 7 outs. He did strike out 4, and 10 of his pitches were swinging strikes. He walked 1... Alex Cobb relieved him, making his season debut. Cobb also lasted 2.1 innings, allowing no runs on 4 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 4, getting 8 swinging strikes out of 58 pitches... Paul Phillips and Justin Garcia shut the Suns out the rest of the way, with Phillips getting the win... Chris De La Cruz was the only Biscuit with multiple hits... Greg Sexton worked 3 walks...
The Leftovers: Judging purely by the numbers, the strikeouts and swinging strikes, McGee's stuff was as good as it's been this year. But he struggled a little bit with his control, and wound up throwing too many pitches... Alex Cobb had some rust from his injury, allowing 6 baserunners in 2.1 innings, but his strikeouts were nice to see...

St. Lucie Mets 8, Charlotte Stone Crabs 2
Box | Recap
Notes: Charlotte fell to 15-10... Matt Moore struck out 9 over 5 innings, but again got hit hard. He gave up 4 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks... Marquis Fleming got hit around for the first time this season, surrendering 4 runs in 2 innings... Backup infielder Shawn Williams pitched the 8th. He didn't allow a baserunner and struck out 2, including Reese Havens, a decent prospect... Matt Sweeney went 0-4 while Tim Beckham missed his third straight game with a family matter...
The Leftovers: I'll have a post on Moore coming later today...

Bowling Green Hot Rods 5, Fort Wayne TinCaps 1
Box | Recap
Notes: Bowling Green improved to 7-19... Alexander Colome battled through 6 innings. He walked 6, but was able to shut the TinCaps out. He allowed only 2 hits and struck out 3... Tyler Bortnick went 2-3 with 2 RBIs... Julio Cedeno was 2-4 with 2 RBIs... Chris Murrill and Ty Morrison each stole their 8th base...
