Pedroza Among Three Released

Quick hit from Stacy Long: Sergio Pedroza, Jake Gautreau, and Josh Asanovich were released by the Rays today.

Pedroza hit the game-winning home run in the 9th inning of the 2007 Southern League championship to help the Biscuits repeat as champions. He showed good power and eye at the lower levels, but he was always old for his league and didn't offer much in the way of defense or projection.

Gautreau was signed from an independent league this off-season, and far as I can tell, didn't appear in a Spring Training game.

Asanovich, who was with the Biscuits for the past two seasons, asked for his release.

    Wow ... The Rays know that they need some players in A+ and AA, right?
