Minor Moves: Nommensen, Salem

The Biscuits are reporting that OF Brett Nommensen has been promoted to the Biscuits. To make room for Nommensen, OF Emeel Salem has been released by the Rays organization.

Nommensen is making his second appearance with the Biscuits after playing with them briefly last season. He is hitting .216 with a double and 3 RBI's in 13 games with the Stone Crabs after starting the season on the DL. Nommensen was the Rays 8th round pick in the 2009 draft out of Eastern Illinois University. He was an all-star last season as a member of the Stone Crabs.

Departing the organization is OF Salem. Salem joined the organization after being drafted in the sixth round of the 2007 draft out of the University of Alabama. Salem was a three time all-star and two time player of the week in his time with the Rays organization. He reached as high as Triple-A Durham prior to his released.

  1. Ths DSL Rays roster is also updated as they start play today, hosting the Cardinals. I put anyone who isn't on the DSL Rays but has not been released onto the GCL roster on the Depth Chart. Same as I did when VSL started. There is no guarantee they start with GCL, could be Princeton, but that's where I stuck them until SS rosters come out in a couple weeks.

Also, sad to hear about Emeel, been around a long time and seemed like a great guy. Glad he made it back from the injuries too.

    1. Would make sense, neither has pitched since 2010 due to shoulder problems.

  4. I had always thought Salem had promise, but things just never panned out. Good luck to him.
