  2. Getting a little worried about James Harris.

    1. Agree. Read an article from a local paper about him a couple of days ago. Not the usual quote from Mgr. Johns about how wonderful everything is. Mentioned bad XST, working on things, etc. Maybe nothing, but you usually only see sunshine and ponies quotes.

    2. Doug, could you post a link to the article?

Also, I'm not worried about James Harris. We knew on draft day that he was raw and would need time. His BB:K rate is very good, after being solid last year, which I think is most important for a top-of-the-order type of hitter with his speed. If there is anything to actually be concerned about, it is the very low BABIP, but it has only been 8 games, so we're talking about a VERY SSS. (and yes, I know his BABIP was poor last year as well, but it still wasn't very many games).

    3. Here is the quote:

“He didn’t have a great extended (spring training), but I thought he got better,” Johns said. “He made some adjustments with his swing and now you’re starting to see the fruits of his labor with his swing.”

Again, it's not a big deal, but you usually don't even see that much. SSS is the key, but I also was looking at last year. He'll get a ton of chances, but there are quite a few OFs (athletic, CF-types) now in short-season ball that will start taking time away if he struggles going forward. This might be the only year where he gets handed the CF job for a whole season with no real competition. Just hope he stays healthy and gets a chance to use this opportunity.
