Scores and Highlights from 8/3

Durham Bulls 5, Charlotte Knights 3
Alex Torres struck out seven and walked two in 5 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits. Stephen Vogt and Russ Canzler each homered, and Daniel Mayora had two hits. Canzler, Mayora, and Reid Brignac each hit a double. Matt Carson went 1-5 and threw Lastings Milledge out at home.

Jacksonville Suns 6, Montgomery Biscuits 2
Alex Colome went 6.1 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks. He struck out six. Neil Schenk allowed three runs in 1.2 relief innings. Tim Beckham doubled and Cole Figueroa had two hits. Henry Wrigley and Kyeong Kang each reached twice on a hit and a
walk.

Palm Beach Cardinals 10, Charlotte Stone Crabs 4
Kyle Lobstein allowed six runs in the first innings, Matt Stabelfeld allowed three in relief, and Scott Shuman coughed up one. Mark Thomas went 3-4 with a home run and Ty Morrison picked up two hits. Hak-Ju Lee went 1-3 and Tyler Bortnick was 1-4.

Bowling Green Hot Rods 8, Fort Wayne TinCaps 4
Eliazer Suero struck out three and didn't walk a hitter in 5 innings, allowing two runs on four hits. Every Hot Rods starter had a hit, with Kevin Kiermaier picking up three and Steve Tinoco two. Mayobanex Acosta homered and walked twice.

Hudson Valley Renegades rained out




Princeton Rays 5, Danville Braves 4
Jake Hager went 1-4 with a double and two RBIs, Drew Vettleson was 1-3 with a triple and a alk, and Junior Rodriguez and Joel Caminero had two hits each. Matt Spann allowed two runs on nine hits over 5 innings, while Brandon Henderson's two runs were unearned. Spann induced eleven groundball outs.

GCL Red Sox 2, GCL Rays 1
The Red Sox outhit the Rays 13 to 1 but only scored one more run. Albert Suarez struck out two in 3 scoreless innings of work. Jacob Faria got the loss, though one run he allowed was unearned. He struck out five and didn't issue a walk. Michael Bourdon had the Rays only hit, though their run came when Jonathan Quinonez walked, stole second and advanced to third on an error, and scored on a groundout.

  1. I think it's time we start taking Mr. Vogt serious. The guy has mashed at every level since P.C. If he can hit .300 in the bigs then he deserves a shot. Does anyone have any reports on his catching? POP times to second would be awesome!!!!

  2. I was about to post the same thing about Vogt. He's been Mr. Positive Consistency. I can see him getting a Sept. call up. He deserves it!
