Peavy To Pitch Against Durham Bulls On Tuesday

Durham Bulls[Via email from the Durham Bulls Director of Media Relations Matt DeMargel.]

2007 National League Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy will start for the Charlotte Knights against Tampa Bay’s rehabbing second baseman Aki Iwamura and the Durham Bulls Tuesday, August 18, at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Peavy, recipient of the Cy Young Award in 2007, will be making his second Major League rehab start for the Knights as he continues to recover from a right ankle injury he suffered June 13 while with the San Diego Padres.

The two-time All-Star (2005, 2007) and the last player to win the Pitcher’s Triple Crown - leading the NL in ERA, wins and strikeouts in 2007 - comes to Durham with the Knights after being traded from San Diego to the Chicago White Sox on July 31. In eight seasons with the Padres, including 2009, the 28-year-old righty has compiled a 92-68 career record with a 3.29 ERA and a Padres franchise record 1,348 strikeouts.

Tuesday’s matchup between Durham and the Charlotte is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available at www.durhambulls.com or by phone at (919) 956-BULL.
