Hudson Valley Renegades shut-out Staten Island in game one of doubleheader

Hudson Valley RenegadesThe Game: The Hudson Valley Renegades defeated the Staten Island Yankees 1-0 in game one of Sunday’s doubleheader at Dutchess Stadium. The Renegades picked up the only run of the game in the first inning. Tyler Bortnick singled on a bunt and then advanced to third on a single by Eli Sonoqui. Mayobanex Acosta then drew a walk to load the bases. Elias Otero drew a bases loaded walk to push Bortnick across and give Hudson Valley a 1-0 lead.

The lone run was all that was needed to secure a victory as Jason McEachern was lights out all game long. McEachern pitched a complete game shut-out only allowing 3 hits and struck out 5 batters. Adam Warren was the losing pitcher for Staten Island.

What Went Right: Jason McEachern; complete game shut-out with 5 K’s.

What Went Wrong: Chris Murrill; 0 for 3 with 2 K’s

A Look Ahead: The Renegades and Yankees are set to play game two of the doubleheader.
